Vintage Puffin Children’s Books

New in are a collection of dozens of Puffin vintage children’s books from the 1940s, 50s, 60s and 70s.

The Puffin series was launched when Allen Lane, publisher of Penguin Books, and Noel Carrington, a publisher of natural history books, teamed up to publish the first series quality paperbacks for children.  The first Puffin story book, PS1, Worzel Gummidge by Barbara Euphan Todd was published in 1941.

All of the books shown here are Puffin first ‘thus’ editions from the first 300 titles and include favourites such as Kidnapped, Black Beauty, and Little Women.

Our collection also includes lesser known titles which have long been out of print.

We also have lots of other vintage Puffins, although not first editions, such as Dr Doolittle.

We’ll be busy listing these in our stores on Abe, ebay etc over the next few days so keep your eyes out, or contact us if there is a particular book that you are after.
