The Modigliani Scandal by Zachary Stone (Ken Follett)- Collins Crime Club First Edition

Our bookfind of the week.

The Modigliani Scandal by Zachary Stone (Ken Follett).

The best selling author Ken Follett published his early novel The Modigliani Scandal under the pseudonym of Zachary Stone.  This is the scarce first UK edition of the novel published in hardback by William Collins in its Crime Club series in 1976.

Ken Follett achieved his breakthrough in 1978 with the spy thriller Eye of the Needle.  He has since gone on to sell over 195 million copies of his works worldwide.

This copy has an unclipped dust jacket, which features photography by Paddy Eckersely, in good condition with slight shelf wear to the page edges. However, there is a bookplate of the Seafarers Education Service inside the front cover, a stamp on the front free endpaper, title page and inside the rear cover. Some spotting to top page edges.

The  Modigliani Scandal is set in the art world and follows four desperate individuals in pursuit of an unknown masterpiece: Dee Sleign, an art historian; her Uncle Charles Lampeth, for whom art is a commodity to be traded; Julian Black, the broke owner of an art gallery; and Peter Usher, a struggling artist who spies an opportunity to get revenge against those in the art world who have unfairly wronged him.

This edition of The Modigliani Scandal is available in our online shop.
