New arrivals this week include a couple of fantastic and beautiful books about Chinese Art.

A Dealer's Hand: The Chinese Art World Through the Eyes of Giuseppe Eskenazi provides a unique insight into the rapidly expanding Chinese art market from an expert in the field.   Published by Scala Arts in 2012, this book presents the remarkable story of a leading contemporary dealer in Chinese and other Asian art.  A Dealer's Hand serves as both a personal history of the evolving Chinese art market and a catalogue of Chinese art illustrated with over 400 colour plates.

An unusual book is Likeness and Unlikeness: A Selection of Works by Qi Baishi from the Liaoning Museum. Qi Baishi was one of the most well-known and influential Chinese artists of the 19th and 20th centuries. He was credited with modernising a style of classical Chinese painting. His works are now sought both in the West and in China.  This book is a stunning catalogue of his works from an exhibition held in Hong Kong in 2006 with captions in both English and Chinese.

Both are listed in our online stores.
