World Book Day - Enid Blyton

Today is World Book Day 2021.  An aim of World Book Day is to encourage a love of books and reading for pleasure.  Like for many, did your love of reading start with Enid Blyton?

With over 700 titles published, Enid Blyton is one of the best selling children’s authors.  Her first books were published in the 1930s, but her breakthrough came with the Brer Rabbit stories in the early 1940s.  Since then over 600 million copes of her books have been printed and they have been translated into 90 languages.  Secret Seven, Famous Five, the Five Find-Outers, Malory Towers and, for younger children, Noddy are just some of the series that she wrote. Which was your favourite?

In stock we not only have some box sets  of modern reprint editions such as the Mystery series and Famous Five, but we also have some first editions complete with (well worn) dust jackets from the 1940s and 1950s  As would be expected for recycled books by such a well loved author, the books generally show signs of being well read!

If any of the books shown are of interest or you would like to know what other Enid Blyton books we have in our stock, please get in touch.
